Elaine Turley

Suffolk Legislature (13th LD)

Elaine Turley is a Fort Salonga resident who has lived in her current home for sixteen years. She is married to William Turley and is the mother of two adult children. Elaine, 56, is an attorney with a law practice specializing in the areas of elder law, trusts and estates, estate administration and real estate transactions. Elaine’s professional experience includes work with elderly and disabled clients helping them navigate the high cost of health care and assisting clients with estate planning.

Elaine is no stranger to advocating on behalf of her community. If elected, Elaine promises to be fully informed on the issues and matters facing the residents of Suffolk County and the 13th legislative district and to advocate for balanced and rational legislation to bring about the best possible results for the community as a whole. Elaine plans to be a full-time legislator who will devote herself to being informed on issues in order to best understand the impact legislative actions will have on her constituents. And she has made the point, “By my constituents, I mean all citizens in my district, not individual special interest groups.”

Tough economic times require an independent legislator who will make sure government revenues are carefully allocated to provide essential services to the people it serves, reduce wasteful expenditures that do not provide benefits to the community, and reduce tax burdens to allow our residents to better provide for their needs and their families. Making Suffolk County an attractive county for young people by attracting quality jobs and increasing housing for young professionals, improving the delivery of health care services at county health clinics, reducing drug use among our residents, maintaining a healthy environment, and balancing the county budget are necessities and must be a priority for the county legislature. Accomplishing these goals will be Elaine’s primary objective if she is chosen to serve.

Elaine was born and raised in West Islip and moved to Smithtown with her family in 1997. Her two children graduated Kings Park High School. Elaine has served as President of the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce and it was during her presidency that the organization secured the funding and government approvals to build the bike and hike trail that runs through the Kings Park Psychiatric Center property and that the playground behind the Kings Park library was completed. Both projects were revitalization projects supported by Suffolk County legislative grants. During the 1990s Elaine was active in organizations and committees that supported individuals with special needs including the Local Early Intervention Coordinating Counsel, Committee for Preschool Special Education and supported employment programs for the disabled. Ms. Turley currently serves as Co-Chair of the Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association, Secretary of the Suffolk County Estate Planning Council, a member of the NYS Bar Association Lawyers Assistance Program, and is a member of the Suffolk County League of Women Voters (Smithtown).
